This season has been quite a treat for KatyCats! Just a few days ago, CelebMix reported that Katy Perry dropped her brand new single, RISE, as the theme song of NBC Sports’s coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics. She took to Twitter to announce the new single’s release.

It was released on July 14, 2016 and an accompanying music video featuring footage of the Olympics was released the next day. Now the official music video, one featuring the songstress herself, is set to be out on August 4, 2016. Katy announced this one, too, via Twitter.

The Dark Horse singer had stated previously that RISE is “a song that’s brewing inside me for years, that has finally come to the surface“. She had been wanting to release it as a standalone track rather than including it on the upcoming album and waiting for its release next year “because now more than ever, there is a need for our world to unite”.

After its release on Apple Music and iTunes, the song has reached number one in Australia, the top five in France and Scotland, the top ten in Hungary and Luxembourg, the top twenty in Canada, Switzerland, and the United States, and the top thirty in Austria, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

We can’t wait for the definitely-going-to-be-amazing music video for RISE. While we count the minutes on our watch, let’s treat ourselves with its trailer, shall we?
